Five Dead, 60 Injured in Horrific Bus and Car Crash on Eastern Cape N6
A devastating road accident has left five people dead and about 60 others injured after a head-on collision between a VW Polo and a bus on the N6 road between East London (KuGompo) and Stutterheim in the Eastern Cape. 🚌🚗
According to early reports, the bus was carrying around 60 Zimbabwean nationals and was travelling toward Stutterheim when it collided with the VW Polo coming from the opposite direction.
The impact of the crash was extremely severe. Authorities say the VW Polo became trapped underneath the bus, forcing emergency responders to use specialized rescue equipment to remove the victims from the wreckage. 😢
Sadly, all five occupants of the VW Polo died at the scene.
The passengers on the bus sustained various injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Emergency teams worked through the night to assist the injured and clear the crash site. 🏥
The Eastern Cape Department of Transport confirmed that the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Police have opened a case of culpable homicide and reckless driving at the Stutterheim Police Station.
